* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 10 to 20 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce considerable blowing and drifting snow. * WHERE...Northern Erie and Genesee Counties. The greatest snow accumulations are expected to be in the nearby Buffalo Southtowns, possibly South Buffalo, Lackawanna, and far southern Genesee County. * WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Friday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult with deep snow cover on roads and very poor visibility. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility, with near whiteout conditions at times. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes. Information: Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities. Submit snow reports through our website or social media.
